SAMHSA FentAlert Challenge Winners
On May 13th, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) kicked off National Prevention Week (NPW), which runs from May 12-18, by announcing the winners of the FentAlert Challenge. This annual event celebrates the potential of prevention science and provides a platform to highlight substance use prevention efforts nationwide. The FentAlert Challenge invited U.S. youth aged 14-18 to propose community strategies for better educating their peers about the dangers of fentanyl and counterfeit pills, with the goal of preventing drug overdose deaths in the long term. The challenge garnered nearly 200 submissions from across the United States. Among the top six winners were the QAC Drug Free Student Ambassadors, who proposed using an Escape Room as an engaging way to disseminate information. Congratulations to them for their innovative approach and their commitment to making a difference in QAC with their Escape Room initiative!
